Scalable Software for Molecular Diagnostics Labs and Developers

Thermo Fisher Scientific has unveiled Diomni Enterprise Software, a powerful solution designed to streamline and standardise routine diagnostics testing, enabling faster time-to-results and improved collaboration within molecular diagnostics labs. By integrating workflow steps into a single interface, Diomni Enterprise Software empowers labs to adapt swiftly to the evolving testing environment. It caters to a range of labs conducting quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qPCR) diagnostic tests, as well as developers seeking to accelerate innovation in testing solutions.

Molecular diagnostics labs and kit manufacturers often face challenges posed by outdated systems that hinder scalability for increased throughput and expanding test menus. Additionally, manual and inefficient processes make sample tracking and compliance maintenance arduous tasks, crucial in molecular diagnostics. Assay developers also encounter obstacles due to inconsistent transition between development stages and a lack of process standardisation, impeding time-to-market and jeopardising regulatory compliance.

To address these issues, Diomni Enterprise seamlessly connects each step of the workflow through a unified platform, boosting productivity in qPCR workflows. The software empowers labs to operate at their fullest potential by automating the interface with existing laboratory information systems (LIS), enhancing efficiency and traceability.

“During the pandemic, we worked to quickly launch a digital solution that would allow clinical labs to continue operations, taking into account the dramatic changes in the PCR testing landscape,” said Fernando Beils, Vice President, General Manager of qPCR instruments, Thermo Fisher Scientific. “What followed was the earliest stages of the Diomni solution, delivering a digital platform that supports testing workflows with the flexibility required to accommodate rapidly evolving needs. We have continued to build on this platform and are excited to deliver a more robust and scalable tool for labs and assay developers across testing environments.”

By unifying labs, instruments, assays, and LIS on a single system, Diomni Enterprise enhances traceability, enabling seamless tracking of samples and reagents throughout their journey. Furthermore, it allows multiple users to access assay templates and results concurrently. The software supports a variety of testing workflows, including compatibility with research-use only and in vitro diagnostic assays and instruments.

“The new Diomni Software makes it easy to work collaboratively, and we can set up runs, manage past runs and documentation, and interpret fluorescent curves remotely and efficiently without the need to install special software," said Dr Gustav Quade, Laboratory Medicine and Technical Development Clinical Pathologist at Quade Laboratory in Germany.

To view live demonstrations of Diomni Enterprise Software, visit Thermo Fisher Scientific's booth #2118 at the American Association for Clinical Chemistry (AACC) Annual Scientific Meeting and Clinical Lab Expo, taking place from 23-27 July 2023, in Anaheim, California.
