India expansion supports high-growth life sciences market

26 May, 2026

Tecan has opened direct sales and specialist laboratory automation service operations in India, marking a significant step in the company’s expansion across high-growth Asian life sciences markets.

The new operation is based in Gurugram, near New Delhi, and includes a dedicated local sales and service team aimed at strengthening customer engagement across pharmaceutical, biotechnology, academic and diagnostics sectors.

The India launch follows growing investment in the country’s life sciences ecosystem, where demand for laboratory automation and advanced research tools continues to rise alongside expansion in contract research, biopharmaceutical development and clinical diagnostics.

Mukta Acharya, EVP and Head of Tecan’s Life Sciences business, said:

“India is a key market for the future of life sciences, with strong momentum across CROs, pharma, biotech and diagnostics. Establishing a direct presence allows us to be closer to our customers, deepen collaboration and further strengthen the value we deliver locally.”

The move reflects a wider trend among global life science companies strengthening in-market operations across Asia, as regional research capacity expands and demand for automation technologies increases.
