Azenta Life Sciences has entered a collaboration with PulpFixin® to help laboratories cut plastic waste while maintaining high standards of performance, traceability, and operational efficiency.
The partnership combines Azenta’s expertise in sample management and laboratory automation with PulpFixin’s AutoRack, a 100% recyclable storage platform designed to support sustainability at scale without requiring major workflow changes, automation revalidation, or disruption to existing sample management processes.
Michael Bussmann, Vice President and General Manager of Consumables and Instruments at Azenta, said the company is focused on enabling more environmentally responsible laboratory operations while helping customers progress toward their sustainability targets.
“We’ve already taken steps in this direction, including offering SBS racks made with 90% recycled content, and we continue to look for ways to expand lower-impact options across our portfolio,” he said. “By combining PulpFixin’s biodegradable rack platform with established FluidX sample management workflows, we’re enabling laboratories to reduce reliance on conventional plastic consumables while maintaining compatibility with automation systems, sample integrity, cold-chain performance and operational scalability.”
Chad Jenkins, CEO of PulpFixin, said the collaboration reflects a shared commitment to improving laboratory sustainability without adding operational burden.
“Azenta has consistently demonstrated leadership in helping laboratories modernize operations while addressing evolving expectations around sustainability,” he said. “Together, we aim to deliver scalable sample management solutions that reduce the hidden costs associated with plastic waste disposal, recycling logistics and sustainability reporting requirements across laboratory operations.”
