Azenta Life Sciences has introduced the Mirage Connect, a camera-based 2D rack barcode reader designed to simplify sample identification while supporting increasingly automated laboratory workflows.
Compact with a low-profile design, the Mirage Connect is well suited to laboratories using robotic platforms and automated sample handling systems. The reader is also designed for frozen sample applications, incorporating passive cryoprotection to help minimise fogging and condensation during barcode reading, reducing the time samples spend outside controlled storage conditions.
Unlike conventional camera-based rack readers, the Mirage Connect features integrated networking via an RJ45 connection, eliminating the need for a separate DC power supply. This allows the system to be easily incorporated into networked laboratory environments and automated workflows.
The reader is equipped with a 16-megapixel camera for rapid, accurate barcode capture and supports standard acoustic tube templates, integrated Cyclops barcode activation and HTTP(S) REST API connectivity. Mobile app control is also available, offering greater flexibility for laboratory users.
Operating with Azenta's DP5 V2.0 software, the system has been designed for straightforward installation and supports a wide range of rack formats, including 24, 48, 96 and 240-position racks, as well as higher-density configurations.
