Wettable Phase for Analytical and Industrial HPLC
Jun 17 2020
Kromasil C18(w) is a wettable HPLC phase specifically engineered for bio-separations as well as food and beverage analysis. The focus of this phase is for the analysis and purification of key biomolecules under aqueous conditions.
Kromasil C18(w) is part of the Kromasil Classic portfolio of perfectly spherical, totally porous silica media with 100 Å pore size. The phase is end-capped with different characteristics than the Classic Kromasil C18, as is shown in the comparing Tanaka diagram. This allows for separations and analysis of samples that are naturally provided in aqueous conditions. The wettable phase also enables new selectivity and resolution opportunities to isolate impurities and enrich samples containing compounds such as amino acids and peptides. The chromatography can be run under reversed phase (RP) conditions or in fully aqueous conditions, if required.
The Kromasil wettable phase is now supplied in both 5 and 10 µm particles. Columns are available from 4.6 to 21.2 mm ID. The larger particles are also available as bulk for packing in DAC systems - even repeatedly, as the well-known mechanical stability of Kromasil packing media also applies for this material.
Independently, if you work with analysis, development or screening, in pilot facilities or manufacturing, the flexibility and alternative selectivity offered by Kromasil C18(w) can be of significant benefit for your facility in view of the wider spectrum of polar compounds that are currently investigated and purified in pharma and biotechnology companies.
