The French Food Safety Agency (AFSSA) has published a new study which assessed the performance of the new blending system used in the Smasher from AES CHEMUNEX against the long established blending system introduced many years ago. In a comprehensive study using 150 samples there were two main objectives:

- Test the contamination homogeneity of a chicken carcase in order to validate its use as a sample to make the comparative study between conventional and Smasher blenders.

- Test the Smasher at different blending durations vs. conventional blending device with homogeneously contaminated samples. The results showed that the new paddle system in the Smasher took only 15-30 seconds to achieve the same standard of blend as that achieved by the old system in 1-2 minutes.

The AES CHEMUNEX Smasher has been welcomed by many food microbiology laboratories since its launch over 12 months ago. Its patented ’smash’ effect first crushes the sample in record time and then automatically adjusts the speed to ensure a perfect homogenisation of the enrichment broth.

In the case of difficult samples (hard or voluminous samples) the machine automatically resets the paddles position and retries powerfully several times. The operator does not need to reposition the blender bag. Particular attention has been taken to guarantee efficient cleaning and disinfection.

It has a leak proof chamber with integrated waste drawer. The blender can be tilted it back at 45° if required for improved access. A new improvement allows the user to remove the paddies within two seconds without any tool!

Last, but not least, Smasher is about 20 times quieter than all other bag blenders available on the market.
