BIVDA represents the majority of IVD manufacturers and distributors in the UK to politicians, policymakers, the NHS, media and other relevant stakeholders to ensure the voice of its membership is heard loud and clear.

At the heart of everything BIVDA do is a vision to drive, influence and shape the future of diagnostics for patients ensuring that innovation, safety, continuity of supply and competition is paramount in clinical and purchasing decisions at a national, international and local level, by increasing the adoption of IVDs within the NHS and access to early diagnosis. Therefore, on behalf of its members, the organisation lobbies and engages with NHS England, NHS Improvement, NICE, MHRA, Government, Parliament and the Civil Service, about the key challenges and opportunities facing the industry.

BIVDA’s external affairs activity includes the dissemination of policy briefings, providing evidence to Parliamentary select committees, responding to Government consultations and providing information and advice about the IVD industry. The organisation provides advice and critical sector information direct from policy makers to members on key issues including Regulation, Brexit, COVID-19 and KPI’s and credentialing.

Through joint working and forming partnerships with our stakeholders, BIVDA works to ensure that IVDs can play their part not just in the diagnosis of conditions, but in prevention and treatment of disease too. Using these close working relationships, the organisation brings about policy changes for members, solves problems and takes up issues with those individual bodies critical to the success of the IVD sector.
