Laboratory equipment manufacturers face rising semiconductor demand

Aug 03 2010

Laboratory equipment manufacturers are currently facing rising demand for semiconductor devices across a broad range of industries, according to figures from iSuppli.

Semiconductors are used by laboratory equipment manufacturers in everything from integrated circuits (ICs) to LED indicators.

However, iSuppli currently notes that the market's growth is steroidal - and seems set to continue.

The analyst expects general-purpose ICs and LEDs to be among the greatest growth sectors, achieving between 36 and 49 per cent by the end of the year.

However, every category, including optics, sensors and microcomponents, is forecasted to achieve a growth rate of 25 per cent or more.

Report author Dale Ford says: "Fears abound that the market's recent success is too good to be true and that an imminent correction is due.

"However, iSuppli does not agree with a double-dip outlook."

The analyst's Semiconductor Value Chain research service covers trends among components for power management, display electronics and core silicon, along with the manufacture and supply of semiconductors in general.
