Lab-scale Coriolis Flow Meters

Nov 07 2018

Accurate and compact mass flow meters of the mini CORI-FLOW™ series of Bronkhorst High-Tech B.V. are based on the Coriolis measuring principle and have been developed to meet the requirements of the market for low flow rates. Various models are available that overlap a flow range from 5 g/h to 300 kg/h (full scale values). Each instrument type offers a "multi-range" function that allows the user to rescale the pre-calibrated measuring range without losing any of the original accuracy. The flow meters feature state-of-the-art digital technology, offering fieldbus interface options and additional functions such as totalisation and alarms. The instruments can be tuned according to customer requirements using the RS232/fieldbus interface and a number of free to use software tools. In laboratories and research centres, Bronkhorst flow meters can both be found in stand alone applications as well as part of integrated systems, e.g. mass spectrometry or liquid chromatography equipment.

The mass flow controllers of the mini CORI-FLOW™ series contain an adaptive PID controller for the fast and simple control of electronically controlled control valves. Depending on the application, this can be an integrated direct-acting valve or a separately installed valve for special functions, e.g. a pressure-operated control valve or a shut-off valve for filling applications. The integrated control valves for liquid applications have a degassing adaptor on the top, which allows easy removal of air and gas bubbles when the system is started-up.

For liquid dosing, Bronkhorst offers a further possibility of flow control. Instead of a control valve, the Coriolis flow meter can be combined with a gear pump, which eliminates the need to pressurise the fluid at the inlet side. For fast and precise filling applications, Bronkhorst recommends to apply their CORI-FILL™ technology. This video explains how the flow can be adjusted quickly and precisely through the combined use of a Coriolis mass flow meter and a gear pump.
