A Large Collection of Mitochondrial Antibodies and Products Now Available.

A large collection of mitochondrial antibodies and products, produced by MitoSciences Inc, is available in the UK and Ireland exclusively from Cambridge BioScience. The MitoScience range was developed to aid advances in mitochondrial research, and to further the understanding of the organelle's role in human disease.

Antibodies from the collection have been developed into kits for a number of purposes including drug discovery and toxicity studies. Kits are also available for the diagnosis of the many mitochrondrial-related diseases or drug-induced mitochondrial toxicity. The MitoSciences library of anti-mitochondrial monoclonal antibodies is made to exacting standards of specificity and utility.

Mitochondria provide energy to cells and contain their own maternally-inherited DNA. Mutations in mitochondrial DNA result in a wide range of conditions with many different clinical symptoms. For some conditions, detecting the abnormality remains a real challenge as the biochemical change observed is very subtle, and also because of the vast numbers of different genetic defects in patients with mitochondrial disease.
