CDS is excited to announce the extension of our continual evolving pyrolysis product line- the 5250T. This instrument combines the benefits of our popular 5200 trapping pyrolyzer and the 5250 autosampler.

The new 5250T is a reactant gas pyrolysis instrument which includes a built-in analytical trap. Although the instrument can also pyrolyze in “traditional” carrier gas, having the built-in trap allows the operator to use various background gases such as an oxygen-enriched environment for combustion studies. The trap is designed to capture the pyrolyzed compounds off-line so that the background gas will be prevented from entering the GC or MS detector. After the sample is pyrolyzed and collected, the trap is automatically heated and the sample is then sent to the GC for analysis. The trap in the 5250T can also be used for slow heat-rate pyrolysis experiments and concentrating trace level compounds to help increase any GCMS detection limitations. And since it is an autosampler, the operator can load up to 36 samples for unattended operation.

Like all the models in the 5000 pyrolysis family, the 5250T is fully programmable in 1C increments up to 1300C and allows up to 8-step programming for each sample run. This 8-step programming allows the user to look for volatiles at several temperature ranges before pyrolyzing the remaining polymer. Optional accessories include a cryo-trap and identification libraries for polymers and additives.
