AccuPoint 2® The Leading Surface and Water Hygiene Monitoring System

Oct 06 2010

The AccuPoint® 2 ATP system by Neogen Europe Ltd is a new generation light-weight yet rugged portable sanitation monitoring system focused for use within the food and beverage industry. Working with some of the world’s largest food and beverage manufactures Neogen’s AccuPoint® 2 ATP systems combination of unique samplers and photodiode technology has proven to offer one of the most accurate and reliable systems available.

ATP is an abbreviation for adenosine triphosphate, a chemical compound found in all living matter, including bacteria, food debris, yeast and mould. If you find ATP, you find a potential source for dangerous microscopic bacteria, such as E. coli, Salmonella and Listeria, as well as yeast and mould, and other bacteria that accelerate the spoilage of food.

ATP hygiene monitoring systems have evolved into the current “Gold Standard” for the food and beverage production facilities to monitor their hygiene efforts. Using the AccuPoint® 2 ATP system is an easy and quick gauge of facilities’ cleanliness, and is easily customised for the specific equipment, people, product and processes used in any food production facility. The system sets an objective, recordable and traceable standard to help avoid the consequences of substandard sanitation efforts.

In very simple terms, ATP sanitation monitoring systems detect the amount of organic matter that remains on food contact surfaces, in liquids, or on pipes, tanks, etc., after a company has completed its sanitation efforts. The amount of ATP detected, and where this ATP was detected, signals company personnel of possible trouble spots that may need to be re-sanitised prior to the start of the production cycle.

The AccuPoint® 2 sampling devices, available for surfaces, easy access for tighter smaller spaces like filler heads, and liquid applications are specifically designed to provide greater sampling effectiveness and consistency. The samplers use a novel sponge tip and sturdy design to consistently collect and detect potential sources of product contamination. The increased pressure that can be applied with AccuPoint’s samplers allow them to penetrate surface crevasses, and break up existing biofilms to capture previously undetected organisms. These organisms include foodborne pathogens, which can lead to recalls or consumer illness.

AccuPoint® comes with Data Manager Software that allows customers to upload results to a PC, set pass/caution/fail levels, create and print trend analysis graphs, export data to spreadsheets, and keep a record of sanitation effectiveness to verify SSOPs. Accumulated results can be graphed using bar or pie charts, over a variety of criteria, for clear pictures of sanitation testing results and trends.
