Continued Success of Branded Cold Storage Products

Aug 23 2010

In 1984, Willy van der Kuijlen started Poly Temp Scientific B.V. The activities at that time were to set up the distribution, sales and service activities in Europe for the Revco branded products. Starting in the attic of his house, Willy van der Kuijlen very quickly developed a network with distributors and service companies to sell and service the Revco products. In a small warehouse, space was rented from a trucking company to have some stock for the European market. Soon, a frequent delivery of 40’ containers with Revco equipment was realised. Poly Temp was responsible for all the Revco sales in Europe, Africa, Middle East and parts of the Far East. Within the first 2 years, an office inside the warehouse replaced the office in the attic of the house. The principle was simple, Get the Revco equipment that was manufactured in Asheville, N.C. in the US as soon as possible to the warehouse where the products would be stocked, tested, (if requested) modified to customers’ requests and shipped.

26 Years later, two sons (Robert and Peter van der Kuijlen) are running Poly Temp with the same principles as their father started with 26 years ago. With a team of 12 people, Poly Temp serves their distributors and service companies throughout Europe. With an average of more than 15 years of working experience at Poly Temp, there is a very high level of product knowledge and enthusiasm within the team and dealers and customers experience this on a daily base. Looking at the Poly Temp network of distributors, there are many companies who have been working with Poly Temp since 1984.

Robert van der Kuijlen is running the commercial side of Poly Temp and spends most of his time travelling through Europe working closely with the dealers in the field. Product training and commercial support of any kind to the dealer is very important. Robert also does combined visits with the dealers to end-users. Consulting dealers and end users to ensure the correct products are offered for the customer’s applications is important.

Peter van der Kuijlen spends most of the time in the office consulting and supporting dealers via the phone. Peter also handles the orders with his team of people. As Peter always says: ”We need to make sure that we fulfil the promises which Robert makes to the dealers and end users.”

In 2009, Poly Temp Scientific celebrated their 25th anniversary by moving into a brand new office/warehouse facility. In the new facility, they are able to be even more efficient and serve customers quicker than before. A state of the art workshop is used to modify equipment to any special requirement that customer’s may have for the Thermo Revco equipment.  Poly Temp has a technical training centre where technicians from all over Europe are trained on the Thermo Revco equipment.

With the new facility, Poly Temp is ready for the future to serve the European market with the Revco branded cold storage products.
