A specialist in oil and polymer testing equipment has turned to technotrans for the supply of a bespoke chilling solution. The system uses the low voltage Aspen compressor which is successfully married into an ambient temperature test system that is now reaching pre-production batch testing.
Poulten Selfe and Lee, manufacturers of PSL-Rheotek viscometers (specialist viscosity testing lab equipment for the oil and polymer industries) operates on a truly global basis.
“The low voltage (24v) Aspen allows us to sell the same system anywhere in the world, irrespective of whether that country works on 240v or 110v systems,” said Managing Director Stephen Gosling (pictured left). “When technotrans introduced us to Termotek we were impressed by the level of dialogue. They asked the right questions, were thorough in understanding our technical requirements and the project progressed quite speedily.”
Termotek is based in Germany and this specialist cooler design operation is a subsidiary within the global technotrans group of companies. technotrans in the UK is based in Colchester and it is developing an increasing number of bespoke cooling solutions across a range of industries including medical, security, transport and much more.
“Having this level of chiller expertise to help us on an OEM basis frees us up to focus on the core development of the viscosity measurement devices for the oil and polymer sectors. We are one day fielding an order from South America, the next from China so we need to be able to deliver workable solutions around the world.
“We are now working on a low (-40°C) temperature test system project together and are also looking to adopt their standard chiller, the P1020. Like the Aspen it is also multi-voltage and before we have had to use suppliers who are potential rivals in our sector; technotrans is not,” said Mr Gosling.
