One of the consequences of the novel coronavirus outbreak is a significant increase in the need for biosafety cabinets used within research and testing for the COVID-19 virus. Haier Biomedical has significantly increased its supply and UK stock of biosafety cabinets to support the UK government’s efforts to tackle the coronavirus pandemic. Cabinets available include the intelligent series biological safety cabinets and dual filtered HR1200-II2-D.

The HR1200-IIA2-D double exhaust filtered MSC utilises two highly efficient HEPA exhaust filters and one ULPA downflow filter to provide maximum protection. As there is no need for external ducting, this is a cost-effective solution.

A Class II microbiological safety cabinet (MSC) provides three levels of protection, protecting users and the environment from exposure to the biohazard, as well as protecting samples from cross contamination. In the case of Coronavirus, SARS-CoV-2 suspected samples should be handled with caution and specified work should be conducted within a MSC at containment level 2 (CL2) go to gov.uk website for more information.
