East Sussex Hospitals NHS Trust (ESHT) has chosen Sunquest ICE™ order communications software to handle GP requests for pathology tests at its laboratories in Hastings and Eastbourne. Dave Benton, Pathology Laboratory Manager at ESHT, explained: “We needed an order communications system for GP requesting, and chose ICE because we could configure it to meet our requirements and have control over it. We now have approximately 90% of GPs live on the system and hope to increase this to around 96% within the next few months.”

“The main benefit to the laboratory is that it is a lot faster to book in requests, which improves our workflow and allows us to report any abnormal results to the GP more quickly, and transcription errors are eliminated. GPs are now able to access the results of tests requested by the hospital, in addition to their own requests, and download them onto their practice’s system, which is a huge advantage.” Dave continued: “Sunquest has provided us with good support throughout. We have now chosen ICE software for our hospital ward requesting, and are also looking at other clinical modules of the ICE package, such as radiology requesting and discharge summaries.” David Allcock, Vice President of International Sales & General Manager at Sunquest added: “We are pleased that Sunquest ICE™ has proved so beneficial to ESHT and look forward to further developing our relationship with them.”
