Group A Streptococcus (Streptococcus pyogenes) is the leading cause of strep throat and impetigo. This gram positive bacterium can also occasionally cause more severe invasive infections.

Rapid detection of this bacterium is based upon immunoassay of the group A carbohydrate antigen (GAC) that is released upon specimen extraction.

ViroStat has released a new Rabbit Monoclonal Antibody to the GAC of group A Strep. This antibody functions in ELISA and lateral flow immunoassay applications. It pairs with itself as well as with the existing ViroStat OMNITOPE™ polyclonal antibodies (goat & rabbit).
