Mass spectrometry & spectroscopy
Ensure data integrity and regulatory compliance with Starna Certified Reference Materials (CRMs).
Starna, a pioneer in the commercial development of CRMs for spectroscopy, offers one of the world’s most comprehensive ranges for instrument qualification and performance verification. Covering the Far-UV to Mid-IR, as well as fluorescence, these materials are manufactured and calibrated under strictly controlled conditions, conforming to all relevant international standards and quality protocols. With over fifty-five years of experience, Starna has been instrumental in shaping the global landscape of CRMs for spectroscopy, collaborating closely with National Metrological Institutes (NMIs), international regulatory bodies, and instrument manufacturers.
Starna CRMs are designed to make instrument performance verification and compliance easier. The company is accredited to ISO Standard 17034:2016 as a Reference Material Producer and to ISO/IEC 17025 for the calibration of its CRMs. Calibration is traceable both to fundamental physical measurements and to international primary standards such as NIST and NRC. Starna’s Instrument Qualification Kits simplify the qualification of UV-Visible spectrophotometers, including all major pharmacopoeias and standards bodies’ requirements. These kits allow users to check photometric accuracy, wavelength calibration, stray light, and instrument resolution/bandwidth quickly and reliably.
Certified references are available for a wide range of applications, including: ultraviolet and visible spectrophotometry, NIR/MIR spectroscopy, Raman spectroscopy, fluorescence, plate readers, HPLC instrumentation, and specialised bioscience applications such as PCR and point-of-care devices.
All liquid references are permanently sealed by heat fusion into cuvettes using Starna’s proprietary process. This guarantees stability and consistent results while eliminating handling and safety concerns. Each Reference Material is supplied with Certificates of Calibration and Traceability, as well as full instructions for use. Certificates are provided electronically on USB, allowing easy integration with IT systems and on-demand printing of hard copies.
Starna CRMs carry a lifetime guarantee when used and stored correctly, with recommended recalibration intervals of no more than two years. The Starna calibration laboratory typically re-certifies and dispatches Reference Materials within five working days of receipt, ensuring fast, reliable service for all users.
