The only rotor mill that can also cut

06 May, 2026

Smart. Strong. Cool.

With the P-14, Fritsch GmbH - Milling and Sizing has developed an all-in-one solution for impact, shearing and cutting comminution. It is currently the only rotor mill based on the impact principle that can be converted into a cutting mill in just a few simple steps. With this innovation, Fritsch combines two sample preparation instruments in one compact solution – delivering outstanding strength and efficiency in both applications.

This makes the P-14 particularly attractive for companies processing a wide range of different samples. By covering multiple comminution methods within a single instrument, laboratories can reduce equipment investments, save valuable bench space and streamline workflows.

High throughput meets full process control

Operating at a rotational speed of up to 24,000 rpm, the P-14 achieves throughput rates of more than 15 litres per hour. This enables particularly rapid and efficient grinding of a wide variety of materials. In combination with a Fritsch cyclone, even temperature-sensitive, electrostatically charged or especially light materials can be processed reliably.

A separate cooling fan, operating independently of the motor, provides active air cooling before, during and after grinding. As a result, even temperature-sensitive substances such as essential oils are largely preserved without loss – even during serial grinding and without long cooling times. A sensor positioned close to the rotor continuously measures the system temperature. All relevant process data, including temperature trends and current system utilisation, can be viewed graphically on the integrated display. This ensures complete transparency during the entire grinding of the grinding process and enables reproducible conditions across entire sample series.

Flexible adaptation to a wide variety of materials

Thanks to easily interchangeable grinding sets, the P-14 can be adapted quickly and effortlessly to a broad range of grinding tasks

  • Impact rotor: Ideal for crushing soft to medium-hard, brittle materials – from lime to grain meal.
  • Cutting rotor: Designed for pre-crushing and fine grinding of soft to tough or fibrous materials – from textiles to synthetic resins and polyester
  • Impact bar: Suitable for highly sensitive materials such as powder coatings, special plastics or samples with residual moisture

Patented detection of individual grinding set components combined with intuitive menu navigation prevents operating errors and ensures a safe, clearly guided and smooth workflow – even when handling changing sample requirements.

With the P-14, Fritsch sets new standards in laboratory grinding: smart in operation, powerful in performance and cool in process.
