Pumps and valves
Filtration processes separate particles from fluids to ensure their purity and quality. In contrast to simple gravimetric filtration, vacuum pumps optimise filtration by creating a pressure differential that moves the fluid through the filter more efficiently. This results in a fast and highly efficient filtration process. The pump can be equipped with a vacuum control and gauge to easily regulate the vacuum. This type of filtration process is often used in laboratories and research facilities because it can be carried out quickly and easily and delivers reliable results.
The efficiency of vacuum filtration can be affected by a number of different factors, including the porosity of the filter, the viscosity of the liquid to be filtered and the type of particle to be removed. When choosing a vacuum pump, it is important to consider the volume of your flask and the number of filtration units (often referred to as ‘funnels’). A vacuum that is too weak will cause the process to take more time, while a vacuum that is too strong can lead to the filter tearing or collapsing.
Users therefore benefit from having a strong partner at their side who knows the challenges and requirements of laboratory applications inside out and allows them to choose the equipment that is best suited to their individual needs.
Developed for uncompromisingly good performance in vacuum filtration and many other applications, the KNF LABOPORT® diaphragm vacuum pumps remarkably support lab life. “KNF is always looking for ways to minimise the challenges of everyday laboratory tasks with user-friendly, high-quality equipment,” says Corné Valkenburg, Director of the Business Unit Lab. “That is why KNF designs compact, highly chemical-resistant pumps and systems with intuitive interfaces and intelligent functions with clear advantages.”
The KNF LABOPORT® diaphragm vacuum pumps offer all the key advantages in terms of handling and functionality that laboratory personnel really need:
Both KNF LABOPORT® diaphragm vacuum pumps are chemical-resistant and have a high vapour compatibility. They offer an environmentally friendly, 100% oil-free transfer and thereby pure transferring, evacuation and compression of gases. The PTFE-coated diaphragm is ideal even for aggressive or corrosive gases and vapours.
