ABB Analytical’s latest addition to its range of spectrometers heralds a breakthrough in low-cost, high-performance equipment for laboratories and industrial processes.

The new MB3000 spectrometer, which has been developed with support from the Canadian Space Agency, uses a Fourier Transformed Infrared system to analyse multiple chemical components.

The Interferometer at the heart of the instrument combines 20-year old proven technology with one recently developed for an aerospace application, thanks to the Canadian Space Agency’s technology development program. This miniaturised interferometer, which is used in satellites, has been integrated into the new design of the analyser. This has resulted in the MB3000 having a small footprint thereby meeting the needs of today’s overcrowded laboratories

“More than ever, ABB is equipped to better serve the analytical chemistry market, including research centres, universities and industries. The MB3000 is a versatile analyser that enables different accessories to be used for diversified applications,” said John Kelly, sales manager, ABB Analytical.
