In its annual report for the year 2006, IDEX Health and Science (Part of IDEX Corporation), a publicly traded company with more than $1 billion in sales of highly engineered fluidics components and sub-systems, formally designated ten businesses acquired since 1995 as its new Health & Science Technologies segment.

"Each of the Health & Science companies is a leader in a particular fluidics technology or technologies," commented Robert K. Brinley, president of the newly formed segment. "Each brings both the complementary technology and functional excellence needed to support small-scale applied fluidics solutions in rapidly growing markets. Current applications range from analytical instrumentation, clinical diagnostics, medical equipment and implantable devices to food & beverage processing, microelectronics and transportation."

The companies comprising IDEX Health & Science, along with their core technologies, include:

- Eastern Plastics (Bristol, Connecticut, USA): manifolds and high-precision machined components;

- Gast Manufacturing (Benton Harbor, Michigan, USA): vacuum pumps and compressors;

- Ismatec (Glattbrugg, Switzerland): peristaltic pumps;

- Jun-Air (Norresundby, Denmark): ultra-quiet, clean-air compressors;

- Micropump (Vancouver, Washington, USA): gear and micro-annular gear pumps;

- Rheodyne (Rohnert Park, California, USA): high- and low-pressure valves;

- Sapphire Engineering (Pocasset, Massachusetts, USA): precision dispense pumps, components, and flow cells;

- Systec (New Brighton, Minnesota, USA): degassers and debubblers;

- Trebor International (West Jordan, Utah, USA): air-operated, double-diaphragm pumps; and

- Upchurch Scientific (Oak Harbor, Washington, USA): fittings and tubing

"Our mission within IDEX Health & Science is to support our customers' growth through the design, production, and distribution of a wide range of high quality, highly precise components and subassemblies," said Joseph E. Stupfel, Vice President of Marketing for IDEX Health & Science, "Our fluidics and gas management systems and precision components are the key enabling technologies within a variety of custom applications around the world."

In 2006, through sales teams in North America, Europe, Asia, India, and Australia and distributors around the globe, nearly 40 percent of Health & Science sales occurred outside the U.S. Manufacturing facilities are located in the U.S., Europe, Scandanavia, the United Kingdom, and China.
