Macherey Nagel GmbH introduces a specific cartridge for solid phase extraction for enrichment of THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) and THC-derivates from blood or urine. The determination of tetrahydrocannabinol and its metabolites is an important procedure in analysis of drugs of abuse and is offered as standard routine method by many laboratories. After enrichment of the analytes respectively pre-cleaning of the sample by SPE subsequent identification by GC/MS is proceeded.

CHROMABOND® Drug II contains a bifunctional adsorbent material, consisting from a strong anion exchanger (SAX, quaternary amine) and C8 modified silica. Two primary retention mechanisms facilitate the use of very strong interferant eluting solvents resulting in very pure extracts especially from heavily matrix loaded samples like urine, plasma, serum or whole blood.

Already available from Macherey Nagel is CHROMABOND® Drug a SPE-cartridge for enrichment of acidic, neutral and basic drugs. By introducing CHROMABOND® Drug II the scope of SPE products for drug analysis is widened by the important group of THCs.
