Inert HPLC columns enhance biotherapeutic analysis

07 Oct, 2025

A new range of inert HPLC columns from Agilent is helping biopharma researchers achieve sharper separations and higher sensitivity in peptide and oligonucleotide analysis. The Altura line – designed for applications such as GLP-1 and oligonucleotide drug development – combines advanced inert surface technology with exceptional reproducibility and reliability.

Developed to meet the growing demands of biotherapeutic R&D and QC, Altura columns deliver faster conditioning, improved peak shape, and enhanced detection sensitivity. When paired with Agilent’s 1290 Infinity III Bio LC, the system achieves up to 30 times higher peak areas compared to conventional columns.

By minimising analyte-surface interactions and ensuring consistent performance across challenging biomolecules, the Altura range enables reliable impurity profiling and more efficient method development. Independent studies report up to 30% higher sensitivity and reduced peak tailing for acidic peptides.

The Altura HPLC family adds to Agilent’s expanding portfolio of inert flow-path solutions, supporting precise and reproducible separations for the next generation of complex biotherapeutics.
