Refurbishment centres achieve top green lab certification

Agilent Technologies’ Refurbishment Centres in Delaware, USA, and Singapore have earned Green level certification from My Green Lab, the highest benchmark for laboratory sustainability.

The certification recognises the labs’ adoption of eco-friendly practices across 12 critical categories, including chemical handling, internal waste audits, and sustainability signage. After a year-long evaluation, the centres scored 90% and 87%, demonstrating excellence in sustainable operations.

“These certifications reflect the dedication of Agilent’s teams and our ongoing commitment to sustainability,” said Andreas Otto, Marketing Manager and Sustainability Specialist. “They set a new standard for sustainable innovation in our labs.”

Central to these centres is Agilent’s Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) program, which refurbishes used instruments to like-new condition. The program extends equipment lifespan, supports a circular lab economy, and ensures that unrepairable instruments are responsibly recycled.

“Green level certification strengthens our mission to reduce waste and enhance sustainability throughout the refurbishment process,” said Dave Sharp, Director of Refurbishment Operations. “CPO instruments are a key part of Agilent’s circular economy, and this recognition underscores their impact.”

Approximately half of the refurbishment teams have voluntarily become My Green Lab Ambassadors, embedding sustainability into daily operations. Agilent’s commitment extends across other sites, including Santa Clara, Waldbronn, and Cheadle, all of which hold My Green Lab certifications.
