Sysmex Corporation and Hitachi High-Tech Corporation have entered into a collaboration to develop genetic testing systems utilising capillary electrophoresis sequencers (CE sequencers). Following joint research findings since the feasibility study (FS) agreement in August 2023, the companies aim to create more efficient and cost-effective genetic testing systems for widespread clinical adoption. The focus is on expanding optimal genetic testing for individual diseases, addressing challenges such as shorter measurement times and reduced running costs that have emerged with the active development of next-generation sequencer (NGS) assay reagents in the genetic testing field. Combining Hitachi High-Tech's CE sequencer technology with Sysmex's expertise in NGS reagent development and analysis technology, the collaboration targets clinical applications initially in oncology, with plans for gradual expansion into other disease areas. The ultimate goal is to introduce new genetic testing systems that offer shorter measurement times and lower running costs, maximising the integration of both companies' technologies and knowhow.
