US expansion strengthens spectroscopy application support

05 Jun, 2025

Following its 2024 acquisition of the Harrick product lines, Specac continues to strengthen its global presence and product portfolio. The company remains focused on delivering high-quality spectroscopy and sample preparation tools for research and process industries, supporting applications from life sciences and food analysis to environmental monitoring and advanced materials.

A major step in its US expansion will see Specac move its US office from Pleasantville to a new, custom-designed facility in Mt. Kisco, New York, later this year. The new site will include a fully equipped demonstration lab with instruments from leading spectrometer manufacturers, enabling hands-on application development in mid-IR, near-IR, UV-Vis, and Raman spectroscopy. The lab will also support wet chemistry, sample prep, and gas analysis, allowing Specac to better serve customers with complex or customised needs.

A dedicated function for custom product development will also be introduced, reflecting Specac’s ongoing commitment to customer-led innovation. This aligns with its broader strategy of building close partnerships to support scientific progress in sustainable technologies, such as catalyst research for cleaner fuels and CO₂ reduction, where Harrick’s UV and IR spectroscopy accessories continue to play a key role.

Despite recent challenges such as US tariff shifts, Specac remains optimistic about future growth, particularly through deeper collaborations that help customers advance new technologies and improve outcomes for people and the planet.
