Thermo Fisher Scientific, Inc announces the launch of the EasyToxâ„¢ GC/MS

Productivity Solution, a comprehensive turnkey solution for GC/MS analysis. The platform has been designed to deliver optimum performance in forensic, clinical and medical laboratories performing analysis of urine for signs of drugs of abuse. The easy-to-use solution optimises

productivity and enables scientists to streamline workflows for routine GC/MS analysis, achieving greater control over their workload. The complete kit covers GC/MS confirmation methods which have been fully

validated in urine matrix to ensure compliance.

Analysis of drugs of abuse is performed in a wide range of applications, including emergency rooms, medical examinations and criminal laboratories, where it is important to ascertain if the patient, deceased or suspect has drugs of abuse in their system. The

Thermo Scientific EasyTox GC/MS system, including all the sample preparation and consumables, has been validated for linearity, precision and specificity to cover GC/MS confirmation methods for five drug classes at cutoff concentrations specified by the US Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA).

The new EasyTox solution consists of the Thermo Scientific DSQTM IITM single quadrupole GC/MS system, ToxLabâ„¢ Forms 2.0 software and GC/MS methods, consumables and columns. The EasyTox GC/MS system offers scientists increased flexibility and can be customised to meet the needs of their laboratory, while the rapid GC/MS analysis ensures

high throughput.

The methods contained within the EasyTox GC/MS solution focus on maximising speed of analysis. The extended dynamic range of the Thermo Scientific DSQ II produces fewer sample repeats, reduced dilutions and re-extractions, while the robust methods reduce instrument maintenance requirements to ensure specimen backlogs are kept to a minimum. Additionally, the Thermo Scientific TRACE GC UltraTM’s fast heating and

cooling capabilities deliver optimal sample throughput. The complete GC/MS solution provides easy method and data management, which allows toxicology laboratories to streamline data acquisition, review and reporting. ToxLab Forms software offers accurate results for increased confidence, as well as advanced tools for in-depth data review and

flexible reporting.

Included in the kit are a quick start guide, an interactive reference CD and a CD containing factory validation data set for the methods provided. Minimal training is required and is standardised from user to user, making it easy for laboratories to achieve validation.
