bioMérieux’s BacT/ALERT® 3D continues to be the most compact, modular and flexible blood culture system available, providing an optimal environment for the recovery of a wide range of pathogens. bioMérieux maintains a continual programme of investment into research and product development, with the latest firmware upgrades for the BacT/ALERT 3D giving customers even more flexibility and efficiency.

The new improvements include reporting methods, such as the automatic transmission of preliminary negative-to-date results directly to the LIS from the Controller Module. Results can be sent at incubation times ranging from 12 hours to 6 days. This makes full use of the data manager facility and saves laboratories time spent answering telephone enquiries from the wards. Further developments focus on sharpening up the QC and calibration processes, and improving the efficiency of bottle loading, processing and unloading. The new upgrade takes just 30 minutes to install.
