Don Whitley Scientific is pleased to announce a new addition to its comprehensive microbiology product range. Biomic V3, manufactured by US company Giles Scientific, automates the reading and interpretation of BSAC (British Society for Antimicrobial Chemotherapy) antibiotic susceptibility test plates and commercial identification test panels for bacteria and yeast.

Biomic V3 has been designed to complement other automated systems or can serve as a primary Antibiotic Susceptibility Testing and Identification (AST-ID) system. Streamlining laboratory workflow, it standardises test results by eliminating reading variability and transcription errors and can read up to 360 sensitivity plates per hour.

The time-saving image analyser features a bi-directional laboratory information system, touch screen, bar coding, rapid-batch entry, multi-system networking and worklist download capabilities. Sales Director at Don Whitley Scientific, Steve Robertson, is particularly pleased to welcome the product, "With on-screen training for identification procedures, final identification can be carried out in minutes for 80-85% of isolates, and at a fraction of the cost of other systems. Biomic V3 fits perfectly into our range."
