Hamamatsu Photonics introduce a new super luminescent diode (SLD), the L11337-04, to their existing range of high performance diodes. The L11337-04 features a high radiant flux of 35mW at a peak wavelength of 830nm.

In common with all SLDs, the L11337-04 exhibits very low coherency, especially compared to a typical laser diode. As well as this, unlike an LED, the emission area is very small.

These features make the L11337-04 suitable for a wide range of applications including ophthalmology, optical gyroscopes, OCT and various measurement, fibre-optic and medical applications.
