In response to the escalating demand for opto-semiconductor products, Hamamatsu Photonics announces the construction of a new factory building at its main factory site in Ichino-cho, Higashi-ku. The ground-breaking ceremony took place 30 June 2023, and the completion of the new facility is expected in June 2025.
With its wide-ranging applications in medical, industrial, and automotive fields, the demand for opto-semiconductor products continues to surge. To address this growing market need, Hamamatsu Photonics is significantly expanding its production capacity at the pre-processing stage.
The new factory building will nearly double the existing production space and enable the incorporation of an additional production line compatible with 8-inch diameter wafers. This expansion aims to streamline production processes, reduce costs, and ensure continuous production. The clean room of the new factory building will be seamlessly connected to the existing one, facilitating efficient material and personnel flow. Automation through an advanced conveyor system will optimise manufacturing processes and save valuable workforce time.
In addition to its robust earthquake-resistant structure, the new factory building will feature eco-friendly manufacturing equipment, aligning with Hamamatsu Photonics' commitment to sustainability.
Furthermore, the company is concurrently constructing another factory building for the device post-processing stage at its Shingai Factory site in Shingai-cho, Minami-ku, Hamamatsu City. These strategic investments in production system upgrades will fortify the company's ability to accommodate future business growth.
