The Oxoid Salmonella Rapid Test (OSRT), a novel culture method for faster identification of Salmonella species from food and environmental samples, has been successfully revalidated and approved for use by the internationally-recognised French accreditation body, AFNOR (l'Association Francaise de Normalisation).

The innovative Oxoid Salmonella Rapid Test combines enrichment, selective growth and presumptive identification of motile Salmonella species in a single culture vessel, with results in just 42 hours less than half the time taken by traditional culture methods. By combining these three steps in one test, operator intervention and exposure to potentially harmful samples is reduced to a minimum. The test is extremely easy to set up and, once incubation is completed, results are simple to interpret. Positive results can be confirmed in minutes using the simple Oxoid Salmonella Latex Test.

The speed of OSRT allows faster throughput of samples and greater convenience in the laboratory, which, in turn, allows prompt clearance of raw materials and faster distribution of finished products.
