Scientific Laboratory Supplies last month gave delegates at their 2010 exhibition a sneak preview of the new 30 litre Bio-bin®. Launched in response to strong customer demand, it will be available from August 2010

in boxes of 10.

Its main features include: a 96% paper construction means the Bio-bin® is an eco-friendly alternative to plastic waste containers for all non-sharp clinical waste; unique stackable and fold-flat designs make it highly

space efficient and ideal for laboratories with limited storage space; and its competitive cost and light-weight design means that it saves money in two ways - by reducing up-front purchase costs as well as end-of-use

waste disposal costs.

These key features mean that labs can dramatically reduce the purchasing, storage and disposal costs of their waste containers, as well as helping to preserve the environment.

The Bio-bin® is already available in sizes 1, 2, 5 and 6 litre; the fold-flat 30 litre bin extends the current range providing more flexibility for users. A UN3291 approved waste container, it is available in the four Department of Health HTM 07-01 waste colours as well as in plain form. The 30L bin features an easy-to-assemble liner and two handles, and will hold up to 8kg of clinical waste.

The lightweight paper construction also means savings on waste disposal costs. By using the lighter Bio-bin®, laboratory staff can be confident they are only paying for the disposal of their clinical waste rather than the container itself.
