Engaging features for attendees
The 2026 show promises more than just a showcase of products. SLS is proud to welcome three outstanding keynote speakers, bringing together science, exploration, sustainability and human performance:
Polar explorer and environmental advocate Pen Hadow headlines the conference. He is the only person to have solo-trekked, unsupported, from Canada to the North Pole and has spent over 10,000 hours on the Arctic Ocean. Founder of the influential Catlin Arctic Surveys and Executive Director of the 90 North Foundation, Pen is a TIME Magazine Hero of the Environment. His keynote will focus on sustainability, resilience, innovation and leadership under extreme conditions.
A leading British space scientist and science communicator, Dr Maggie Aderin-Pocock has worked on major space programmes including the James Webb Space Telescope and climate-monitoring satellites. President of the British Science Association and presenter of BBC Sky at Night, Maggie is a passionate advocate for STEM education and diversity in science.
Professor Sophie Scott is a world-renowned neuroscientist at UCL, specialising in the science of speech and laughter. A popular broadcaster and TEDx speaker, she combines cutting-edge neuroscience with humour to deliver engaging insights into communication, behaviour and the human brain.
The Professional Development Zone will allow visitors to engage with expert-led workshops, CPD-certified sessions, and technical demonstrations designed to enhance practical skills and knowledge.
Sustainability will also take centre stage, with dedicated talks on environmental responsibility, green laboratory practices, and innovations that reduce energy and material consumption in research environments.
Visitors can also take part in the SLS Arcade Cup, a fun and competitive challenge featuring classic arcade-style games including Roll & Bowl, Basketball, Whack-A-Molecule, Reaction Ring and Operation. The participant with the highest combined score will be crowned the SLS Arcade Cup Champion and win a £250 voucher.
