Invented by the Danish scientist Hans Christian Gram in1884, Gram staining was developed to distinguish between two different types of bacteria based on the physical properties of their cell walls. Gram staining rapidly

became a common procedure and is still used in today’s modern clinical and microbiological laboratories.

SciLabware Limited has launched a new range of Gram stain wash bottles with everything you need to perform

the procedure. Available in packs of five, the wash bottles are pre-labelled with crystal violet, safranine solution, iodine and Gram decolourising solution.

Manufactured with the patented DripLok® vapour venting technology, the new wash bottles provide the safe alternative when performing any Gram stain. For full details see page 78 of the new SciLabware catalogue.
