Ultra Optically Clear assay plates from Azenta Life Sciences offer exceptional optical transparency in the UV waveband. Specifically designed for laboratories conducting DNA purity measurements at 260/280nm, these plates feature a high UV waveband transmission derived from an ultra-clear cyclic olefin copolymer (COC) base. The use of COC ensures superior results, delivering minimal background absorbance and low autofluorescence.

Utilising a proprietary laser welding technique, Azenta attaches a thin 70um COC base to an opaque frame, enhancing optical clarity while reducing background noise. This results in superior signal transmission at low UV wavelengths compared to standard optically clear bases made from glass or polystyrene. The unmatched optical performance of Azenta's Ultra Optically Clear assay plates allows for DNA purity measurements directly in the plate well, minimising sample loss and improving throughput in automated workflows.

Manufactured from COC, these plates offer robustness surpassing quartz-based assay plates and excellent chemical resistance to solvents such as DMSO, ketones, and alcohols, known to degrade standard polystyrene plates.

To safeguard the optical surface from scratches and ensure consistently clear results, each plate is equipped with a protective film. Furthermore, these assay plates are guaranteed to be free from DNase, RNase, and human genomic DNA.

Each Ultra Optically Clear assay plate includes an alphanumeric grid for easy well and sample identification. Optional low-profile lids are available for preserving sample integrity, and barcoding is offered to streamline automation.
