New accessories for high-volume magnetic bead workflows
Aug 23 2024
Integra Biosciences has expanded its product offerings with the introduction of a deep well plate adapter and a magnetic array specifically designed for its MAG module. These new accessories are tailored to integrate with Integra’s recently launched deep well plates, enabling efficient support for high-volume workflows in magnetic bead applications.
Magnetic bead-based protocols are increasingly favoured by researchers in molecular biology and proteomics due to their superior scalability in both throughput and volume compared to traditional column-based methods. However, the manual execution of these protocols can be highly labour-intensive and prone to errors, particularly when it comes to preventing the inadvertent aspiration of magnetic beads.
The combination of Integra’s MAG module with the ASSIST PLUS pipetting robot provides an automated solution for precise magnetic bead handling and separation, eliminating the challenges associated with manual processing. Additionally, the MAG module is compatible with the VIAFLO 96 and VIAFLO 384 handheld electronic pipettes, as well as the MINI 96 portable electronic pipette, further enhancing the efficiency of high-throughput magnetic bead workflows. The module’s innovative design, featuring a moving magnetic array, allows for seamless binding and releasing of beads without the need for manual plate shifting.
The MAG module offers flexibility with its easily interchangeable magnetic arrays, which can be adapted to accommodate various labware types. The newly introduced deep well plate adapter and magnetic array are specifically engineered to work with Integra’s deep well plates, supporting magnetic bead applications involving up to 96 samples with volumes of up to 2.2 ml. This development provides an optimal solution for laboratories seeking to streamline and scale their high-volume magnetic bead workflows.
