Cole-Parmer introduced the picoSpin™-45L Benchtop NMR Spectrometer to the press and other interested parties at Achema 2012.

The instrument is a revolutionary innovation that greatly expands the availability of NMR spectroscopy. With its ability to identify detailed structural information about chemical compounds, it can be used for far-ranging applications—from identifying compounds in medicine, food, and cosmetics to measuring ethanol and other additives in gasoline. Yet, unlike traditional NMR spectrometers, the picoSpin™-45L Spectrometer is the size of a shoebox, weighs only 4.76 kg (10.5 pounds), and is priced at a fraction of the cost of other options on the market. Its small size and low price make it accessible as a dedicated instrument in research labs and provide much-needed hands-on experience for university chemistry students.

The panel of presenters included Jim Kaigh, Director of Global Sales for Cole-Parmer and Andy McLachlan, PhD, Field Applications Specialist for Europe. A Q&A followed the presentation.
