New Data Analysis Software supports Automated Mass Spectrometry Glycan Quantitation Analysis
Jun 26 2014
Premier Biosoft announces the release of Enterprise Edition of SimGlycan® v. 5.0, a comprehensive high throughput tool to provide support for glycan quantitation using Thermo Scientific™ aminoxyTMT™ for MS/MS glycan data analysis workflows. Additionally, it can be used for processing of LC-MS data for peak detection, peak picking and alignment of glycans based on retention time, precursor m/z values and observed intensities across multiple samples.
The Thermo Scientific™ aminoxyTMT™ reagents are designed to provide efficient relative quantitation of carbohydrates, improve labelled-glycan ionisation efficiency and increase analytical throughput. These reagents can be used for quantitative analysis of native N-glycans by direct or LC-coupled ESI-MS. Using SimGlycan®, glycans are quantified by measuring reporter ion peak intensities from the corresponding MS/MS spectra. Various charts are provided to facilitate visualisation of either the quantity of each glycan in different TMT channels or relative change in abundance of glycans across samples.
According to Julian Saba, Senior Scientist, life science mass spectrometry at Thermo Fisher Scientific: "One of the major new application areas of TMT reagents, until now being used for protein quantitation, is quantitative profiling of glycan isoforms and discovery of glycan biomarkers. Premier Biosoft's SimGlycan® is designed to ably provide the informatics support needed for analysing the data generated by this workflow. "
"The lack of informatics tools to automate the qualitative and quantitative analysis protocols till now remained a major challenge. The functionality now introduced in SimGlycan® is a major step towards narrowing the existing data analysis gaps. We are now offering the research community an effective tool for data validation, visualisation and quantitation," said Arun Apte, CEO at Premier Biosoft.
