Sunderland University is the latest in a long line of leading academic institutions to specify Camspec single beam UV/Vis Spectrophotometers from Spectronic Camspec. The Leeds based group is one of the largest independent laboratory instrument sales and service organisations in the country and has been manufacturing Camspec spectrophotometers for several years.

Amal Elkordy from Sunderland University said the recently installed single beam UV/Vis spectrophotometer will be used to measure the absorbance of different drugs to determine their concentrations in solutions. It will also play an important role in measuring the biological activities of proteins such as lysozyme and tryspin through the application of the kinetic mode.

The Camspec M501 is ideally suited for this but forms part of a larger series of models for different applications. The full range of these and other analytical instruments offered by Spectronic Camspec can be found on their website at www.spectronic.co.uk which has recently been extended to include a wide range of consumables.
