PFAS-free degassing for aqueous solutions

22 Nov, 2024

Biotech Fluidics has introduced the DEGASi® Life Science Degassing Chamber, offering efficient removal of dissolved gases from aqueous solutions at flow rates up to 20 ml/min while eliminating contamination from toxic PFAS.

Poly- and perfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) are known for their persistence in the environment and links to health issues, including kidney cancer and low birth weights. To address the growing demand from environmental, food, and healthcare laboratories for PFAS-free solutions, this innovative degassing chamber replaces traditional fluorinated polymer membranes with a silicone-lined fluid path, ensuring compatibility without PFAS contamination.

By removing dissolved gases, the DEGASi® chamber enhances precision in analytical instruments, reducing bubble formation that can interfere with dispensing and detection processes. Its design incorporates a highly permeable silicone membrane, with fluid flowing through the membrane pathway while a PID-controlled vacuum pump maintains a precise vacuum level to actively extract gases.

This PFAS-free degassing solution supports labs seeking to maintain high analytical performance while aligning with environmentally conscious practices.
