Column Provides Fast Separations Between pH 1 and 12 Using Solid Core Technology

Kromasil EternityShell columns, based on solid core technology, have been designed for extended lifetime in method development, validation and quality control that require pH beyond traditional silica materials as these columns can operate between pH 1 and 12. The example presented here is a fast chromatographic separation using EternityShell-2.5-C18 2.1 mm I.D. x 50 mm of a sample containing eight aromatic compounds. These compounds are, in order of elution, Toluene, Naphthalene, Biphenyl, Acenaphthene, Phenenthrene, Antracene, o-Therphenyl and Triphenylene. The mobile phase employed for this application is Acetonitrile:Water under gradient conditions starting at 60 % acetonitrile and ending at 85% acetonitrile within a 2 minute timespan, flow rate of 0.6 mL/min, ambient temperature and UV detection wavelength of 254 nm. There is complete baseline separation for all peaks in this fast separation, illustrating the capabilities of Kromasil EternityShell columns.
