The Thermo Scientific iCAP 6200 ICP Analyzes Trace Elements in Polymer Samples to Ensure Compliance with WEEE-RoHS International Standards
Jul 19 2010
The WEEE-RoHS Directives of the European Parliament and Council are guidelines to member governments on the disposal of ‘Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment’ (WEEE) and the ‘Restriction of the use of certain Hazardous Substances’ (RoHS). The International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) Protocol 62321 for the analysis of restricted substances provides guidelines for the sampling and analysis of restricted substances in electronics and polymers found in electronic parts and equipment. The Thermo Scientific iCAP 6200 ICP is pre-loaded with a method template to ensure optimized polymer sample analysis to verify compliance with both the WEEE/RoHS directive and the IEC Protocol 62321. In addition, the axial plasma viewing enables optimum detection limits for the toxic metals outlined in the directive/protocol. The pre-optimized ICP sample introduction components ensure simple ‘out-of-box’ operation and make the instrument extremely easy to use.
