Thermo Scientific CryoMed controlled-rate freezer series minimises damage to biological material during low-temperature freezing. A choice of three sizes and two different styles (front or top access) ensure that any user requirements can be met. All CryoMed® controlled-rate freezers are designed as complete one-piece systems, with integrated control panels and thermal printers. Specific, FDA-approved models have been developed that allow convenient top access for manual sample “seeding” for ease-of-use with IVF procedures, where sample viability is of the utmost importance. The freezers are designed for precise control and convenience, with a user-friendly interface continuously displaying the temperature of the sample and the chamber.

Optimum cooling is ensured by a continuous vapour supply provided via a patented LN2 injection ring. Dual solenoids are also fitted to increase the LN2 volume for accelerated freezing and subsequent cell viability. Safe and efficient sample freezing is facilitated through the use of foamed-in-place polyurethane insulation, which greatly minimises cabinet condensation, ensuring that little moisture is formed on the benchtop. Furthermore, multiple freezing profiles can be tailored to specific protocol requirements, with access code protection to prevent unwanted changes or interruptions, making this unit suitable for a wide range of laboratories. The Thermo Scientific CryoMed controlled-rate freezer series offers uniform cooling rates, which are effective for a variety of freezing applications; including stem cells, embryos, heart valves, and cord blood.
