Accelerating glycobiology research with Heparan Sulfate antibodies
Apr 15 2025
AMSBIO is helping to advance glycobiology research by supplying a trusted portfolio of high-affinity Heparan Sulfate (HS) monoclonal antibodies, now widely used in leading research laboratories around the world.
Heparan Sulfate is a complex polysaccharide found on cell surfaces and within basement membranes across mammalian tissues. It plays a crucial role in numerous biological processes by mediating interactions with a wide array of proteins. However, due to its weak immunogenicity, producing effective, reliable antibodies against HS has long posed a challenge for researchers.
AMSBIO has addressed this with a dedicated range of hybridoma-derived anti-HS antibodies, including popular clones such as 10E4, 3G10, and JM403. Known for their high specificity, sensitivity, and strong binding affinity, these antibodies are extensively validated for accuracy in detecting and quantifying Heparan Sulfate on cell surfaces. Suitable for use across multiple model species, they have become valuable tools in studies ranging from viral pathogenesis to cancer biology and immune system research.
To further support reliable data generation, AMSBIO recommends pairing its Heparan Sulfate antibodies with CELLBANKER® cryopreservation media. This helps preserve cell surface HS expression, ensuring experimental reproducibility in downstream analyses.
Alongside its antibody portfolio, AMSBIO is also working to raise awareness of the growing importance of glycobiology. The company recently partnered with Dr Doug Dyer, immunology researcher at the University of Manchester, UK, to publish an informative blog exploring how glycobiology - once considered the ‘dark matter’ of biology - is now reshaping our understanding of key biological mechanisms. The article, complete with recent research examples, can be read at: Sweet Science blog.
By combining robust research tools with educational resources, AMSBIO is helping researchers unlock new insights into glycobiology and the pivotal role of Heparan Sulfate in health and disease.
