DNA / RNA
Amsbio has expanded its biorepository with a novel range of high-quality formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissues and matched controls, aimed at biomarker discovery, histopathology, translational research and assay development.
FFPE processing preserves tissue structure well enough for histological analysis, but the RNA within these samples continues to degrade as the fixation, embedding and storage processes take their toll – damage that accumulates with time and storage temperature. Sub-optimal tissue quality is among the leading causes of misleading results in biomarker studies.
The novel collection, marketed under the Acepix name, spans normal adjacent tissue, specialist disease samples and more than 30 types of human cancer tissue, including breast, lung, prostate and adrenal cancers. Blocks are sourced from young tissue, acquired within three years, and held in cold storage to preserve RNA, DNA and protein integrity.
Each FFPE block is ethically sourced and strictly selected, making the range well suited to spatial analysis of biomarkers. The high molecular quality of the tissue is intended to give researchers greater confidence in the data they derive from it.
Amsbio draws on decades of experience in this field and maintains an extensive collection of frozen and FFPE human and animal tissue samples spanning normal and diseased tissue types. All blocks are processed using standard clinical procedures under protocols approved by an Institutional Review Board (IRB), and each sample is pathologically verified and quality-assessed by a board-licensed pathologist before being shipped with donor demographics and clinical details.
