HPLC column: C30 for hydrophobic isomers and large molecules

09 Feb, 2026

The Cogent C30™ HPLC Column (72330 15P) from Microsolv is a long-trusted option for laboratories analysing long-chain, mostly hydrophobic positional isomers and large biomolecules. This 3 µm, 4.6 mm × 150 mm, 200 Å column is widely used as an alternative in USP methods classified under L62.

Featuring a C30 stationary phase with approximately 30 carbon ligands bonded to high-purity silica, the column provides sharp peaks and high efficiency, thanks to its 3 µm particle size. Its 200 Å pore size makes it ideal for analysing carotenoids, vitamins, peptides, and some proteins. The column is not end-capped, supporting traditional selectivity and compatibility with numerous reversed-phase methods. As a well-established alternative to normal-phase techniques, it avoids common NP issues while offering shape selectivity.

Laboratories use the Cogent C30™ column for USP L62 alternate methods as well as for new method development. It offers reliable performance for hydrophobic isomers and larger analytes, and has been recognised as a premium value column, routinely employed in HPLC laboratories for many years.
