Licensing agreement expands kidney disease therapy pipeline in Asia

14 Jul, 2026

Everest Medicines has entered into an exclusive licensing agreement with Australian biotechnology company Dimerix to develop and commercialise DMX-200, an investigational treatment for focal segmental glomerulosclerosis (FSGS), across Greater China, South Korea and selected Southeast Asian markets.

The agreement strengthens Everest Medicines’ renal disease portfolio and expands its presence in the Asia-Pacific region, where demand for innovative treatments for chronic kidney conditions continues to grow.

DMX-200 is a small molecule inhibitor targeting the chemokine receptor 2 (CCR2) and is currently being evaluated in the Phase 3 ACTION3 clinical study for the treatment of FSGS, a rare kidney disorder that can lead to progressive loss of kidney function and end-stage renal disease.

The partnership will enable Everest Medicines to support the future development and commercialisation of DMX-200 across key Asian markets, while Dimerix continues to advance the global clinical programme.

FSGS affects the kidney’s filtering units, causing scarring that can result in protein loss through the urine and declining kidney function. In China alone, estimates suggest that hundreds of thousands of people are living with the condition, highlighting the need for more targeted treatment options.

The ACTION3 study is a multinational, randomised Phase 3 trial evaluating the safety and efficacy of DMX-200 in patients with FSGS receiving standard background therapy. The study has completed patient enrolment and is designed to assess improvements in proteinuria and kidney function.

“FSGS remains a serious and underserved kidney disease with limited treatment options available to patients across Asia,” said Yifang Wu, Chairman of the Board of Everest Medicines. “This collaboration with Dimerix strengthens our renal disease portfolio and supports our goal of bringing innovative therapies to patients across Greater China, South Korea and Southeast Asia.”

The collaboration forms part of a wider strategy by both companies to improve access to innovative medicines across Asia-Pacific markets. By combining Dimerix’s clinical development expertise with Everest Medicines’ regional commercial capabilities, the partnership aims to accelerate the availability of new treatment options for patients with significant unmet medical needs.
