Beckman Coulter has announced the selection of the Motoman (a Yaskawa company) industrial robot arm for integration with the company's automated liquid handling solutions, providing drug discovery/screening and sample preparation customers with an industrialized option for ultra-high throughput. The Motoman robot will join Beckman Coulter's own ORCA and Robotic Transport (BRT) offerings to give customers a choice of automation scalability.

As the newest entry in Beckman Coulter's successful third-party integration programme, the Motoman robot, rail setup and software controls will be optimized for use with Biomek® FX or NX automated liquid handling systems and integrated solutions. These integrated solutions include scheduling software, liquid handlers and a variety of peripherals, such as readers and incubators, and provide high levels of walkaway automation.
